Discovery Classroom

Following the awarding of an Environmental Trust Fund grant for the construction of an outdoor environmental education classroom at Salem Elementary School in 2012, students, teachers, and parents at Marshview Middle School are seeking to design and implement an outdoor environmental education program for the Grade 5 to 8 students. This project, also funded by the Environmental Trust Fund, will give students hands-on learning opportunities, a greater appreciation for the outdoors and nature, outdoor experiential learning activities, along with developing an active learning space for education for sustainable development, climate change awareness and the introduction of a recycling and waste auditing program. Work is underway this summer to put the infrastructure in place for active outdoor learning in the Fall!
